Twenty-five people die in road accident in Guinea
Conakry, 7 November 2022 (dpa/MIA) - At least 25 people have been killed and seven injured in a road accident in Guinea. According to a senior administration official on Sunday evening, a truck collided with a minibus near the small town of Souguéta, about 180 kilometres east of the capital Conakry, in the afternoon. According to the report, the minibus had driven into the oncoming lane during an overtaking manoeuvre and collided with the truck. The driver of the minibus survived the accident seriously injured. In the West African country, serious traffic accidents with high fatality rates are not uncommon. The reasons are usually excessive speed or overloaded vehicles. The poor condition of many vehicles and roads is also a danger. According to estimates by the World Health Organization, the number of road deaths per hundred thousand people in Guinea is seven times higher than in Germany, for example.
