Skopje, 16 August 2024 (MIA) — A total of 53 wildfires across the country were reported Thursday. Twelve are still burning, six are under control, and 35 have been put out, the Crisis Management Center said Friday morning.

According to the CMC, three wildfires are still burning in the Municipality of Makedonski Brod. Two are burning in the Municipality of Kichevo and two are burning in the Municipality of Chashka. Fires are still burning also near Debar, Dolneni, Novaci, Plasnica, and Resen.

One of the localized fires was in the Municipality of Demir Hisar, on Ilinska Plakenska mountain, near the villages of Virovo and Sloeshtica. Another was a brushfire in the municipality of Bitola, near the village of Ostrec. 

Brushfires were also brought under control in Pehchevo's Negrovo village and near the villages of Papradishte and Oreshe in the Municipality of Chaska. Also localized were the Delchevo landfill fire and the forest fire between the villages of Bolno and Ilino near Resen. mr/
