Tupancheski: Von der Leyen’s words give hope, country on right path in judiciary reforms
Skopje, 27 October 2022 (MIA) – Justice Minister Nikola Tupancheski says the words of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during yesterday’s visit to Skopje over North Macedonia's progress in the reform of the judicial system give hope and optimism that the country is on the right path. “The trajectory we are currently on is the right path. The progress report is complementary and contains several segments: judicial system, fight against corruption, fight against organized crime, prevention of terrorism and violent extremism. They have all been assessed as having moderate progress,” Minister Tupancheski told TV24. He refers to reforms in the judicial system and says they cannot happen overnight but are nonetheless intensive and specific results are expected. “North Macedonia is ranked 63rd out of 140 countries on the Rule of Law Index of the World Justice Project, which is an improvement by one spot compared to last year,” says Tupancheski.
