Tuneski: Energy independence a condition for self-sustaining state, ZNAM offers measures to make this possible

Skopje, 4 May 2024 (MIA) - The ZNAM Movement announced on Saturday two gas cogeneration power plants (TE-TO Skopje and TE-TO Negotino) by May 2027 in state ownership and launch of construction of Chebren HPP in state ownership with establishment of a directorate for the construction of Chebren HPP, no later than four months after
the formation of the new government.

ZNAM Movement's Atanasko Tuneski told Saturday's press conference that the commitment to a self-sustainable state implies independence in covering the electricity needs with production in state-owned energy facilities.

Part of ZNAM's election platform in terms of energy is also the selection of a strategic investor for implementing the Vardar Valley project, which contains 12 hydropower plants, no later than two years after the formation of the new government, as well as completion of the construction of the gas pipelines Negotino (Kavadarci) - Bitola, Skopje-Tetovo-Gostivar-Kichevo, and the gas pipeline with Greece.

Tuneski pointed out that ZNAM will also advocate for an increase in the production of electricity in state-owned energy facilities by at least 30 percent in relation to 2023, as well as reduction of the costs of electricity production in state-owned energy facilities by at least 25 percent in relation to last year.

The realization of these goals, he pointed out, will enable energy independence of the state by increasing the production of electricity in state-owned energy facilities.
