Trucks importing, exporting or transiting through Serbia to be weighed only once as of Thursday

Skopje, 1 February 2024 (MIA) – As of Thursday, Macedonian businesses whose cargo trucks are importing, exporting, or transiting through Serbia will only be weighed once, helping Macedonian businesses save time and money, said the Customs Administration of North Macedonia in a press release Thursday.

The move comes after the heads of the customs administration of North Macedonia and Serbia, Stefan Bogoev and Branko Radujko, signed a Memorandum of Recognition of Cargo Vehicles Weighing Scale Receipts last month.

According to Bogoev, the weighing scale receipts from the Serbian Customs Administration will be valid in North Macedonia, and vice versa.

“For example, if a Macedonian company exports into the countries of the European Union, the truck will be weighed upon departure from Macedonia, at the Tabanovce border crossing, and then it won’t be weighed upon entry in Serbia. Once it reaches the Serbo-Croatian or the Serbo-Hungarian border, it will again not be measured upon departure from Serbia, but will instead be measured upon entry in Croatia or Hungary,” clarified Bogoev.
