Trenchevska: Inclusion of citizens from socially vulnerable categories into labor market is priority

Skopje, 23 November 2023 (MIA) - Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Jovanka Trenchevska, met with Economic Chamber of North-West Macedonia President, Mendi Qyra, and chamber representatives. Talks focused on the labor shortage in North Macedonia, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy said in a press release on Thursday.

Minister Trenchevska said that for her, the priority is to integrate recipients of the guaranteed minimum assistance into the labor market.

"She noted that this will pull 36,000 families out of the social protection system, and that amendments to the Law on social protection are currently underway in order to reach the desired goal. She also brought up the draft law on employment for certain activities, which aims to reduce the gray economy, and facilitate access to the labor market," the press release reads.

Representatives from the Economic Chamber expressed their views regarding the shortage of labor. They also highlighted solutions that will be submitted in writing to the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy. ssh/nn/
