Trenchevska: Gender equality remains government’s priority

Skopje, 21 August 2023 (MIA) - Minister of Labor and Social Policy Jovanka Trenchevska took part in the "Women and Men in North Macedonia" event on Monday, a publication issued within the framework of the "Gender Equality Facility - advisory services to the administration of North Macedonia" event, financially supported by Sweden and organized by UN Women and the Secretariat for European Affairs (SEA).
"The concept of equal opportunities means equal opportunities for women and men as equal access to resources and right to participate in social and political life," Trenchevska said in her address.
The Minister emphasized that the equal opportunities for men and women in North Macedonia are regulated by the Constitution as the highest legal act, for prevention and protection of basic human rights and fundamental freedoms.
"Gender equality is a priority for North Macedonia's Government. Gender equality is part of the Government’s Work Program 2020-2023 and an obligation concerning the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, both on a national and local level," the Minster added.
Finally, she pointed out the benefits of the publication said that the data summarized in the publication gives the direction that institutions and organizations must follow when dealing with gender equality issues. ssh/sk/
