Trenchevska: Gender equality one of key aspects for prosperity of entire society
Skopje, 19 October 2022 (MIA) – Minister of Labor and Social Policy Jovanka Trenchevska met Wednesday with Biljana Radonjic Ker-Lindsay, Associate Director for Gender and Economic Inclusion at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Esmeralda Shehaj of EBRD-Tirana and Marija Ristevska of the Center for Research and Policy Making (CRPM).
EBRD’s Radonjic Ker-Lindsay highlighted the main aspects of the bank’s sector for gender and economic inclusion, as well as the gender component of corporations, noting that networking of education institutions, the private sector and the employment agencies is exceptionally important for creation of the best policies and measures, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy said in a press release.
Minister Trenchevska said realization of the Operational Plan for active employment programmes and measures is yielding results.
“The 3,370 women who have been employed in less than two years, along with 6,035 women who have acquired skills and qualifications at the labor market, i.e. 10,000 women in total, is a proof of the significance and success of the employment measures that the Government has been realizing every year,” said Trenchevska.
She also referred to the Strategy for Gender Equality 2022-2027, which sets up a comprehensive framework for further activities aimed at promoting gender equality and empowerment of women.
“Through the adoption of this strategy, North Macedonia enhances the state of gender equality in line with international standards, recommendations and obligations, recognizing that gender equality is one of the key aspects for the prosperity of the entire society,” said Trenchevska.
Interlocutors also discussed the new Law on Gender Equality, which aims to ensure the realization of full gender equality in all walks of public and private life, reads the press release.
