Transport Minister Nikoloski meets U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission Varnes 

Skopje, 20 August 2024 (MIA) - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Aleksandar Nikoloski held a meeting Tuesday with the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy, Nicole Varnes, during which he highlighted the excellent cooperation between the two countries and stressed the Government’s strategic commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation with the United States, the Ministry of Transport and Communications said in a press release.

According to the press release, Minister Nikoloski spoke about the reform processes and priorities of the Government and the Ministry of Transport as key for the improvement of the living standard, economic growth and the fight against corruption. 

“The issue of developing infrastructure was also raised at the meeting with Minister Nikoloski noting the immense importance of fulfilling the Government’s goals to realize capital projects as a prerequisite for faster economic growth and development, improved regional connectivity and integration. Projects planned for the coming period were discussed, as well as the increased dynamic in the work on corridors VIII and X,” the Ministry said. 

Nikoloski also spoke about projects in the railway sector and high-speed rail as one of the most significant strategic projects.

“Minister Nikoloski highlighted the country’s strategic commitment to membership within the European Union, as well as Macedonia’s continued contribution in strengthening its relations within the NATO alliance. Interlocutors agreed to intensify cooperation between the two countries,” the Ministry said.
