Skopje, 2 May 2023 (MIA) - A Railways conductor has been detained for migrant smuggling, said the Ministry of Interior on Tuesday.

Police officers arrested a 28-year-old Skopje citizen working as conductor in Railways of North Macedonia at the Veles railway station on Monday evening and seized EUR 1,000 suspected to arise from the crime of migrant smuggling.

Earlier, police officers found two persons, Syria migrants, in a train operating en route Gevgelija-Skopje, who told the police officers they had given the conductor money to board the train.
