Skopje, 1 August 2024 (MIA) - The deputy head of the National Forests public enterprise, Kire Mihailov, said in a Facebook post Thursday that the country saw 765 wildfires in July, which he said is among the highest in history.

“We ended July with a total of 765 fires in Macedonia, a figure I can freely say is among the highest in history. Given that the fires started to actively break out some time after July 10, we can say that we had more than 30 fires per day on average, figures that are striking in themselves,” Mihailov wrote in the post.

He thanked everyone who was directly involved in the efforts to put out the fires.
