Toshkovski, Bojmacaliev meet Spanish Ambassador García

Skopje, 4 March 2024 (MIA) - Caretaker Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski and additional Deputy Minister Mitko Bojmacaliev held a working meeting on Monday with Spanish Ambassador José Luis Lozano García.

"Toshkovski highlighted commitments to the process of organizing fair and democratic elections, and other related activities. Also, as an additional issue related to the election process, he pointed to the lack of valid documents for 100,000 citizens who will not be able to exercise their right to vote. In addition to violating citizens' right to freedom of movement, this also violates their right to vote in the elections, which is a cause for concern," the Ministry of Interior said in a press release.

Deputy Minister Bojmacaliev expressed gratitude for the overall cooperation in the spirit of friendship, including the honour shown to North Macedonia which hosted the EU-Western Balkans summit during the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union; considering that last year Bojmacaliev chaired the committee for the organization of key events of global importance - the EU-Western Balkans summit and 30th Interpol European Regional Conference.

Ambassador García thanked for the ongoing rich cooperation in all areas, especially in the fight against organized crime and immigration, and expressed conviction that the cooperation will continue to develop in the future. He also especially emphasized Spain's support for North Macedonia's path to full EU membership. ssh/nn/
