Toshkovski attends Global Alliance conference on migrant smuggling in Brussels

Brussels, 10 December 2025 (MIA) – Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski is participating in the International Conference of the Global Alliance to Counter Migrant Smuggling taking place in Brussels on Wednesday.
The conference will explore key trends in irregular migration and migrant smuggling, such as the modi operandi of smugglers, including in relation to facilitation of irregular migration by air, and to identify strategies to address these challenges through enhanced operational, judicial cooperation, and improved information exchange.
It will aim to bridge the gap between global, thematic and regional partnerships and processes, and other initiatives with a view to identifying good practices that can enhance synergies and foster cooperation.
The conference features three thematic sessions focused on prevention, response, and alternatives to irregular migration.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will deliver a keynote speech, and welcoming remarks will be given by European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner.
Participants in the conference include government officials from countries in Europe, Africa, Asia and Central America, including Albania's Interior Minister Albana Koçiu, Belgium's Interior Minister Bernard Quintin, Serbia's Interior Minister Ivica Dačić and Montenegro's Interior Minister Danilo Šaranović. British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Interior in the French government, Marie-Pierre Vedrenne, State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry of Interior, Christoph de Vries, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy, Henna Virkkunen, Commissioner for Financial Services and the Savings and Investments Union, Maria Luís Albuquerque, Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jozef Síkela, Frontex Executive Director, Hans Leijtens, Europol Executive Director, Catherine De Bolle and other top officials of European agencies and international organizations will also be attending.
