Toshkovski and Dacic discuss police cooperation in Belgrade

Belgrade, 26 July 2024 (MIA) - Police cooperation, fight against organized and transnational crime, and improvement of cooperation at the border crossings were in the focus of the meeting between Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski in Belgrade with his Serbian counterpart, Ivica Dacic, MIA’s Belgrade correspondent reports.

“Together with the Minister, we assessed the situation on the ground yesterday, we participated in the preventative action that we have at the border crossing, and we concluded that we can improve the frequency of vehicles and people crossing the border, so we agreed to establish a working group that existed previously as well, but we hope that now we will be able to produce results in a relatively short time period,” Toshkovski said at a joint press conference with Dacic.

Toshkovski added that the Ministers agreed for Serbia to send four police officers in August to act on the territory of the city of Ohrid and voiced gratitude for the assistance that Serbia provided in the efforts to extinguish the wildfires in the country.

Minister Dacic said Serbia is ready to cooperate and provide assistance when necessary.

“Panche and I spoke and there was need for assistance, and we provided the helicopter with the best capacities, ‘Kamov’ alongside seven members of the Interior Ministry which had more than six flyovers and helped extinguish the fires in North Macedonia,” Dacic said.

The Serbian Interior Minister said several joint issues were discussed at the meeting such as the fight against crime, the fight against irregular migration, human trafficking, fight against the smuggling of weapons and narcotics, as well as mutual assistance in the efforts to maintain stable peace and order.

As part of his visit to Belgrade, Minister Toshkovski also met with the Prime Minister of Serbia, Milos Vucevic
