Third Prespa Forum Dialogue to focus on European enlargement, unity and stability

Skopje, 13 June 2023 (MIA) – Struga will host the third edition of the Prespa Forum Dialogue, to be held June 15 and 16, corresponding with the fifth anniversary of the signing of the Prespa Agreement. The focus will be on the need for unity and stability in Europe and the opportunities for accelerated EU integration of the other countries of the continent, announced Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani at a press conference Tuesday.

Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski, as the patron of the Forum, will lead the central session at the conference “Prespa Agreement Five Years on: Challenges Turned into Opportunities”.

“The Russian aggression in Ukraine reminded us of the need for a united Europe dedicated to the protection of its value and interests. There is no relevant political thought that does not consider the topic of a united Europe as a key factor for unity and stability on the continent, which is reflected through the strengthened and accelerated EU integration of the other countries from the continent. At this year’s forum we will talk about how possible it is for this mission to be fulfilled by the end of the decade, or a widened European family by 2030,” said FM Osmani.

The Foreign Minister announced a long list of guests from which, he said, he expects productive talks and serious messages, above all aimed at the region in the broader European context.

“We have received confirmations that they will attend from heads of state and governments, including, the new President of Montenegro, Croatia, Albania, prime ministers from the region, foreign ministers from Croatia, Ireland, Czechia, international representatives including the Deputy Secretary-General of the UN and OSCE, the new head of IOM, high representatives of numerous think-tank organizations,” said Osmani, adding that the NATO General Secretary and the President of the EU Council are expected to address the conference via video.
