Vienna, 9 August 2024 (dpa/MIA) — The Austrian authorities have detained a third person, an 18-year-old man from Iraq, Interior Minister Gerhard Karner said on Friday following the cancellation of Taylor Swift concerts due to a terrorist plot.  

The suspect had sworn allegiance to the Islamic State and was travelling with the 19-year-old main suspect, Karner said.

However, he was not directly involved in the attack plans, he said.

The public prosecutor's office has requested that the two suspects who were already detained be remanded in custody. The district court is to decide whether to impose pre-trial detention later on Friday.
