Tetovo Clinical Hospital receives new medical equipment worth EUR 3,5 million

Tetovo, 6 February 2023 (MIA) – Health Minister Bekim Sali visited the Tetovo Clinical Hospital on Monday, and together with director Amir Elezi announced the arrival of medical equipment worth EUR 3,5 million. The equipment was provided as part of a large procurement of medical equipment for 14 public health institutions worth EUR 13,6 million.

“The Tetovo Clinical Hospital was provided with an angiography machine, a computed tomography scanner, a mammography unit with the possibility of biopsy, two x-ray machines, echo diagnostics device, as well as two mobile x-ray machines with a digital detector. Some of the machines are currently being installed, while some have already been installed and are ready for use,” said Minister Sali.

He added that next week the staff will be taught how to use the new equipment, and then they will be put into use and available for the patients.

Hospital director Elezi said that together with the Minister they detected the weak points of the institution and jointly undertook action to provide the adequate equipment for the services used by over 200,000 people from the broader Polog region.

“A thorough analysis has shown that this equipment is necessary for our operations as a clinical center. Initially, we had a huge shortage of equipment and the equipment we had was outdated, which resulted in a long waiting list for the patients and doctors working with outdated equipment,” said Elezi.

He said that clinics in the Internal Department of the hospital are currently being reconstructed and a portion of the new devices will be installed there.

“Our doctors will receive renovated clinics, new equipment and our patients will benefit greatly due to the increased availability of appointments, diseases will be identified and treated in a very short time. Additionally, we also plan to renovate and adapt the parking space at the hospital and begin operations at the Emergency Center. We have excellent doctors and specialists, and now with the new equipment, I believe that we will be able to provide quality services,” said the director.

The medical equipment was procured through the World Bank. ad/ik/
