Skopje, 7 February 2024 (MIA) – As the row between the leader of the Alliance for Albanians (AA), Arben Taravari and AA assembly chairman and former leader, Ziadin Sela, over the party’s positioning at the coming general elections continues, Taravari told MIA he has scheduled a consultative meeting with the party’s assembly delegates for Thursday, while the party published a press release reiterating that its assembly will meet on Saturday.

“Tomorrow at 7pm in Kumanovo I will hold a consultative meeting with the delegates of the party’s assembly,” Taravari told MIA.

At the same time, the Alliance for Albanians issued a press release stressing that the party’s assembly is scheduled to meet on Saturday at 1pm in Skopje.

“Yesterday some of the members of the assembly of the Alliance for Albanians received a message over a meeting in Kumanovo, as well as over a meeting with the leader of the Alliance for Albanians, Arben Taravari. We would like to inform you that no one should fall for any disinformation that the assembly is meeting there, because, as you can ascertain from the invitation, this is a gathering or a meeting. The party’s assembly, in line with the party’s statute, is scheduled to meet on Saturday in Bushi Resort at 1pm,” said the party's press release.

Talking about Thursday’s meeting, AA’s Member of Parliament, Halil Snopche, told Albanian language media outlet “Lajm” that they will gather to reaffirm their support for Taravari. He said the party’s assembly will not have the necessary quorum on Saturday.

“We will meet tomorrow in Kumanovo to reaffirm our support for Taravari. Taravari has the political support, because he holds the absolute majority of delegates in the party’s assembly and tomorrow this support will only be confirmed both technically and formally. Tomorrow it will be shown that the majority of the party’s assembly backs Taravari… On Saturday, the quorum won’t be met. Only a party rally can be held on Saturday,” said Snopche.
