Skopje, 13 May 2024 (MIA) - Arben Taravari of the Worth It coalition is optimistic over the constitutional revision and believes the country has a chance to join the European Union by 2028.
Taravari told Telma that VMRO-DPMNE has the will to solve the problem so that EU accession negotiations begin. Proposals for the country's European path come from both sides, along with suggestions by international experts, who he hopes "will be very active between Skopje and Sofia in the coming period".
"We are aware it is difficult to change the Negotiating Framework. There are elections in Bulgaria in June, so we'll see if a stable government assumes office, but we also have facilitators that will provide support during this period. I hope they will be very active in finding a solution that is acceptable for future governments in the two countries," says Taravari.
Regarding President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova's failure to utter the country's constitutional name during the swear-in ceremony, Taravari says the election euphoria is still prevalent and hopes the new head of state will observe the Constitution and international agreements.
"Worth It has expressed its regret over the action and I hope that the President will respect the country's constitutional name," says Taravari.
According to him, the 2025 local elections will be the first test for the new government.
