Taravari: Clear signals that country will open EU negotiations together with Albania

Skopje, 13 June 2023 (MIA) - Alliance for Albanians (AA) leader Arben Taravari said Tuesday there were clear signals that North Macedonia will open the EU negotiations together with Albania.

In response to a reporter's question on what lies ahead for the country if the constitutional amendments don't pass, Taravari pointed out it was not important what the next government would be like, but it was important that there are clear signals that the country will most likely open the EU negotiations together with Albania.

"I don't want to believe that. We can now see clear signals from the Macedonian opposition party VMRO that they are ready to vote on the constitutional amendments. It does not matter what the next government will look like, or how the government will be organized in the next six months, what is important is there are clear signals that North Macedonia is likely to open negotiations with the European Union together with Albania," Taravari said during Tuesday's visit to Kumanovo.

He stressed that it would not be good at all if the country doesn't start the EU negotiations, pointing out that the focus should be on the European integration.
