Taravari: Ahmeti's proposal on resignation of ministers unserious at such a serious time of European integration

Gostivar, 31 July 2023 (MIA) – Ali Ahmeti's proposal is unserious at such a serious time when it comes to Europeasn integration, and it won't be considered within the party bodies for the time being, Alliance for Albanians (AA) leader Arben Taravari said Monday.

In response to a reporter's question on whether AA will leave the ruling coalition after DUI leader Ali Ahmeti's call to follow the example of the party's ministers who have submitted their resignations, which will become effective after the opposition VMRO-DPMNE votes in favor of the constitutional amendments, Gostivar's Mayor and AA leader said that it was a PR trick.

"This is a very serious time for such unserious proposals. I mean, Ahmeti doesn't think like that and it looks like a PR trick to me. At this time, we should be thinking soberly and seriously when it comes to European integration. In the Alliance for Albanians, Ahmeti's proposal is not even considered," said Taravari.

If there is a situation which requires a decision in this direction to be taken, then it will be discussed within the party bodies and in consultation with the membership and the citizens, Taravari stressed.

Regarding regrouping of the Albanian political bloc and the possibility of a coalition with the opposition, Taravari said he will not leave the ruling coalition for the time being.

"Alliance for Albanians is part of the government and is doing the analyses for the upcoming elections. So far, there are no hints of a coalition, and given what we've been through before, it will be best to run at the elections alone," AA leader Arben Taravari noted.
