Talks in Sofia continue, reveals Deputy PM Marichikj
Skopje, 4 July 2022 (MIA) - As far as I know, no meetings have been held today as part of the talks in Sofia, but contacts continue. Throughout this process, especially in the past six months, we've had daily contacts at different levels, Deputy Prime Minister Bojan Marichikj said Monday in Skopje. "All Macedonians and all the citizens need to realize that in this process we didn't fight to convince Bulgaria to change its position. As part of the process of negotiations, we wanted the EU to approach our language and identity with principle as it treats all other member states," Marichikj said. The citizens of North Macedonia, he noted, should rest assure that our language and identity is protected and there are no conditions that will force us to accept anything else. Asked about the publishing of the protocol, Marichikj said the document is yet to be finalized as it is being still under negotiations. "It will be shared with the public and published for consultation as soon it is finalized."
