Switzerland to lift most Covid measures but keep mask-wearing rules

Switzerland to lift most Covid measures but keep mask-wearing rules
Switzerland will celebrate its own "freedom day" on Thursday, when a raft of Covid-19 restrictions on public life are set to be lifted. The government announced on Wednesday that unvaccinated individuals would once again be allowed into restaurants, cultural venues and leisure facilities. Limits on the number of people allowed to meet privately will also fall away, together with guidance asking employees to work remotely. Compulsory mask-wearing will however remain in place for public transport and health care facilities. Staff in care homes must also continue to wear masks. The government said the epidemiological situation in the country was continuing to develop positively. Thanks to a high level of immunity in the population, the government deemed it unlikely that the health system would become overburdened at this stage, even as coronavirus infection numbers remain high.
