Swedish-Macedonian Chamber of Commerce promoted, to focus on new economic partnerships and investments

Skopje, 17 December 2025 (MIA) - Economic cooperation between North Macedonia and Sweden will be enhanced through the activities of the Swedish-Macedonian Chamber of Commerce (SMCC), a dynamic bridge that links companies, institutions and ideas from both countries, heard a promotional event for the chamber at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade on Tuesday.

Chamber president Marija Nikolovska said its key activities will be support to businesses, facilitation of business cooperation, organization of fora and events, and promotion of innovative environment-friendly business practices.

"Following SMCC's official launch in Stockholm this October, we are now continuing our mission at home, with the same enthusiasm and commitment to build a long-term and significant partnership between the two countries. The chamber was established with a clear goal: to promote exchange, investments, entrepreneurship and sustainable development between Sweden and North Macedonia, as well as support the business interests of our members," said Nikolovska.

She urged Macedonian companies to look into the Swedish market and set up new partnerships, while calling on Swedish businesses to recognize North Macedonia's potentials.

SMCC Executive Director Samuel Naumovski Vickius said companies of various sectors from both countries are chamber members, offering knowledge, expertise and networking.

"We are open for more members," said Naumovski Vickius and said 2026 will see an investment forum in the country, a road show, a business forum etc.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Zoran Dimitrovski highlighted the commitment for an increasing bilateral cooperation and strengthening of economic ties, noting that the chamber will serve as a bridge to connect companies, encourage investments and trade partnerships.

"We will help our businesses in researching the Swedish market, the benefits of high standards employed there, and networking with one of the most innovative European economies. This will also open the doors for Swedish companies to use the potential and talents that Macedonia has on offer," said Dimitrovski.

Swedish Ambassador Ola Sohlström said strengthening of economic cooperation will be key for further enhancement of the excellent bilateral partnership.

"We are one of the biggest champions of your EU accession and hope for progress in 2026. We are partners in NATO, businesses are cooperating and we would like to see the list of companies increase," noted Ambassador Sohlström.
