Supreme Court diligence owed to commitment for efficient proceedings and new rules of procedures

Skopje, 20 February 2023 (MIA) - The Supreme Court is a diligent court after it overcame the influx and reduced the backlog of cases, reads the Judicial Council report on the operations of courts in North Macedonia in 2022.
The Judicial Council notes the efficient work on Supreme Court cases in compliance with standards of the European Court of Human Rights, its administrative and financial operations, improved working conditions, enhanced transparency and undertaking activities in regard to the judiciary's independence and efficiency, the Supreme Court said in a press release.
Court president Besa Ademi said the court's diligence is owed to the commitment for efficient proceedings and the new rules of procedures.
The Judicial Council reviewed and adopted the report on the courts' operations in 2022, according to which courts at national level have not overcome the influx of cases, which have increased by about 11,000. Of the 34 analyzed courts, 19 are considered diligent, including the Supreme Court, whereas 15 are not diligent, including two appellate courts.
The Supreme Court is considered diligent since it overcame the influx and reduced the backlog by 149 cases, reads the press release.
