Strumica holds Children's Carnival as part of Forgiveness Day festivities

Strumica, 17 March 2024 (MIA) — Strumica's youngest residents took part in the town's Children's Carnival held Sunday to mark the holiday of Prochka (Forgiveness Day) as part of the masked carnival celebrations in Strumica that started on March 13, MIA's Strumica correspondent reports.

Joined by their teachers and parents and masked as their favorite cartoon characters, children from several local preschools and elementary schools performed songs and dances at the Strumica town square. Their performances called for peace, love, understanding and a happy childhood, MIA's correspondent writes.

The town's carnival continues on Monday, when organizers will announce the best masks from the carnival parade held on Saturday night. The day's festivities include the customary cooking and eating white bean soup at the town square as well as an exhibition of caricatures and aphorisms. mr/
