Skopje, 27 February 2023 (MIA) – The State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption (DKSK) confirmed at a session held Monday that a case has been opened against the Minister for Political System and Intercommunity Relations, Artan Grubi, after information leaked about the increase of his assets and his family’s assets.

“We will release information to the public when we have information to share,” DKSK said, adding that the Government is not following their recommendations about public office holders’ abuse of power, as well as the latest case of official vehicle use by FM Bujar Osmani and that the Government “should really consider the DKSK’s recommendations”.

“The Government often says it’s not an investigative organ, but it still has a code of ethics it needs to uphold. Our recommendations to the Government, especially to the Deputy PM in charge of good governance policies, are that they can act according to the code of ethics. There are weaknesses and abuse, but we have no mechanisms for further work,” DKSK says.

They also said that the authorities can also choose not to uphold DKSK’s recommendations, but it all goes into the EC’s reports, especially now that the screening is underway.

Previously, VMRO-DPMNE MP Mile Lefkov accused the Government, the PPO and the DKSK for “keeping the Artan Grubi scandal under wraps” and said that the institutions “should investigate how it is possible for Artan Grubi’s brother to get a 127 square meter apartment in downtown Skopje and pay only EUR 100,000 for it”.

“This means that the Grubi family paid EUR 700 per square meter, and the real price is over 3000. The citizens of Skopje can’t even buy a garage for EUR 700/m2, let alone a luxurious apartment. It’s evident that Artan Grubi was caught with his hand in the cookie jar, and nothing can help him now,” Lefkov said on Monday morning.dk/sk/
