Speaker Xhaferi meets delegation of foreign affairs and diaspora committee of Kosovo parliament
Skopje, 23 November 2022 (MIA) - Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi met Wednesday with members of the the Committee for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Assembly of Kosovo, Haki Abazi, Yllza Hoti, Fitore Pacolli and Time Kadrija, who are paying a visit to North Macedonia. Speaker Xhaferi emphasized this visit represents a further improvement of the constructive bilateral cooperation between the countries' parliaments, after the high-level visits between the two countries, including his official visit to Kosovo in March of this year, his Office said in a press release. Xhaferi welcomed the establishment of the Friendship Group in the Parliament of Kosovo and expressed hope that the cooperation groups in the two legislative houses, as well as the committees, will intensify mutual cooperation. Xhaferi stressed that the two countries share the same strategic determinations and goals in terms of foreign policy and North Macedonia in principle supports the Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Kosovo and continuously expresses readiness to transfer the acquired knowledge and experiences, both on the way to the EU and in relation to aspirations for integration into NATO. Xhaferi reiterated his strong support regarding the EU visa liberalization for Kosovo citizens, as well as his support for Kosovo's membership in international organizations and initiatives, including the Council of Europe. He also emphasized that Skopje supports the efforts to resolve issues between Pristina and Belgrade as an important contribution to a stable region. Committee chair Abazi expressed satisfaction from the good bilateral relations, emphasizing there is room for improvement, given that both countries have the same foreign policy priorities for membership in the Euro-Atlantic structures. He emphasized that Kosovo is committed to good relations with all its neighbors, including Serbia, on an equal basis and stressed that the region has a historic opportunity to build peace in which there is no room for conflicts. Abazi emphasized his country's commitment to the Berlin Process as a way of accelerating the EU path and expressed gratitude for the country's support to Kosovo's membership in international organizations. dk/ik/
