Skopje, 17 July 2024 (MIA) - Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi met Wednesday with the Ukrainian Ambassador to North Macedonia, Larysa Dir, exchanging views on the situation in Ukraine in relation to Russian aggression, as well as continuing cooperation and support on a bilateral level and within international organizations.
Gashi pointed out that there is continuity in Macedonian politics and institutions in terms of support and assistance for Ukraine. From the point of view of humanity and solidarity, he noted, help and support should be given to anyone facing aggression, and especially to a country with which this country has cultivated friendship and good cooperation for many years, the Parliament said in a press release.
Ambassador Dir thanked for North Macedonia's support, expressing expectation that it will continue in the future. She noted that given the situation Ukraine is facing, support from friends and cooperation and affirmation of the same values within international organizations, such as the UN, the OSCE, the Council of Europe, is of special importance.
Interlocutors also exchanged views on the EU integration process. Gashi noted in that sense that North Macedonia and Ukraine are on the same path.
Participants in the meeting also discussed further communication at the level of parliamentary groups for cooperation, as well as possibilities of organizing joint meetings and visits. In that context, interlocutors highlighted the role of the Assembly of North Macedonia in the parliamentary dimension of the International Crimea Platform.
