Skopje, 10 July 2024 (MIA) - During his visit to the United States, Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi met with a delegation led by Robert Benjamin, Director for Central and Eastern Europe at the National Democratic Institute (NDI). 

"Speaker Gashi thanked for NDI's support to the Parliament over the past 25 years and expressed confidence that our successful cooperation will continue in the second phase of the Parliamentary Support Program (PSP). He pointed out that the Parliament highly appreciates NDI's contribution and support in strengthening the institutional development, the transparency of the Parliament and the building of capacities," the Parliament said in a press release.  

NDI Regional Director Benjamin briefed the Speaker of the Macedonian Parliament on the degree of implementation of the ongoing projects and the next activities.

"Participants in the meeting agreed that the investment in the parliamentary capacities represents an investment of lasting value for the state," reads the press release. 

The Parliament began the cooperation with NDI in 1999 with the Internship Program, under which the best students in the country were assigned to practice in the Assembly.
