Skopje, 21 February 2022 (MIA) – Cooperation between the ministries of interior of North Macedonia and Austria was and continues to be fruitful and productive, especially upon the entry into force of the intergovernmental agreement on police cooperation, agreed Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski and Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer at the sidelines of the Ministerial Conference of the Platform for joint coordination on combating irregular migration along the Eastern Mediterranean route in Vienna on Monday. Minister Spasovski thanked Chancellor Nehammer for the continued support and the significant efforts through the Federal Ministry of Interior for implementation of the joint platform that promotes and effectuates better coordination of measures against illegal migration along the Eastern Mediterranean route. “Namely, Chancellor Nehammer, in his former capacity of Minister of Interior, paid a visit to North Macedonia, during which we went to our southern border and the Austrian police officers who take part in joint controls with our police officers,” Spasovski wrote in a Facebook post.
