Skopje, 26 November 2023 (MIA) - Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski says there is finally a resolution to the cases involving gangs and criminal groups that have been forged over the past 30 years.

"The Ministry of Interior has opened a broad front against these enterprises, be it drug or arms trafficking. The persons who have been arrested and serve prison sentences are part of those enterprises," Minister Spasovski told Radio Free Europe.

According to him, there is no light or severe offense, no small or big criminals.

"Securing evidence during the investigations is of key importance, regardless of the crime. What is important is to prove the crime and have a non-selective fight against crime," says Spasovski.

He adds that crime in the country has dropped by 11 percent in 2023 compared to the previous year.

"Perception must be built on facts and arguments. It is a fact that a serious battle has led to bringing most of the criminals behind bars, regardless of the crime they committed. Nevertheless, collecting evidence is very important in bringing these crimes before courts," says Spasovski.
