Spasovski says he expects full documentation on Palevski's extradition to be sent today

Ohrid, 7 December 2023 (MIA) - Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski said he expects the full documentation on the extradition of Ljupcho Palevski, the prime suspect in the murder of Vanja Gjorchevska and Panche Zhezhovski, to be submitted to Turkey on Thursday.

"The Ministry of Justice has received all documents. According to the information I have and talks with the Minister, work in terms of preparing and translating the full documentation has been underway since yesterday. I expect that today it will be sent to Turkey," Spasovski told reporters during Thursday's Ohrid visit.

Minister Spasovski confirmed that Palevski had traveled with a Macedonian passport.

Palevski was arrested in Turkey on an international warrant issued through Interpol. His extradition is pending. He fled to Turkey via Belgrade and Bulgaria.

According to Spasovski, lawyer Vasko Stojkov, who drove Palevski to Belgrade, is still being questioned by the police, whereas criminal charges will be filed against the person who drove Palevski to Turkey.

Asked whether the exact time of Vanja's death has been determined, the Minister said that what the joint press conference with the chief public prosecutor told was based on the statements of the suspects, noting that the most accurate data on the exact time of death will be given by the autopsy report.

"However, these are not only statements, but statements that are confirmed by a series of evidence, video materials, metadata, etc. Still, the most accurate data as evidence in that regard will be provided by the forensic medicine autopsy report," said Spasovski.

Everything that has been found as material evidence, he added, has been submitted to the Public Prosecutor's Office.
