Spasovski: Prevention of children's delinquency and increasing youth resilience to crime a strategic priority

Skopje, 6 June 2023 (MIA) - Prevention of children's delinquency and increase of youth's resilience to all types of crime is a strategic priority for the well-being of children, families and society as a whole, said Minister of Interior in a video-address at regional event "Strengthening Resilience to Organized Crime and Corruption among Youth in South-Eastern Europe" on Tuesday.
"Organized crime and corruption are areas where North Macedonia's Ministry of Interior has invested technical and human resources to upgrade its capacities. We are also engaged in international cooperation at an expert and operational level, for the purpose of promoting a culture of joint and committed actions in countering these phenomena," said Minister Spasovski.
The MoI referred to the 2020-2025 National Strategy and Action Plan for prevention and protection of children from violence of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, where the Ministry of Interior provided active input.
He also mentioned the National Council for Prevention of Children's Delinquency, set up within the Law on Justice for Children, which involves professionals, experts, representatives of public and private institutions, civil society organizations.
"The law's adoption has been a huge step forward in the protection of children's rights and interests, aligned with international standards," added Spasovski.
The conference is organized within North Macedonia's OSCE Chairmanship, in cooperation with the OSCE Transnational Threats Department and the Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime.
