Skopje, 28 July 2022 (MIA) – The aircraft are operational as are the Army helicopters. In addition, we have the two police helicopters at disposal for the wildfire extinguishing efforts, said Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski on Thursday. “The Army has a couple of helicopters fitted with fire extinguishing equipment. The Ministry of Interior did not have such capacity up until now, since we have procured the required equipment and trained the personnel, so the two police helicopters are at disposal,” Minister Spasovski told a Q&A session in Parliament. Regarding the two Air Tractor aircraft, one is already in function, while the second is set to arrive at the start of August after undergoing service abroad. “Last year we had a problem because the planes were not serviced. This year we did this and one is already operational and taking part in fire extinguishing activities, while the second will arrive on August 5,” said Spasovski.
