Skopje, 1 September 2022 (MIA) – Three years after its creation, the Nationals Security Agency (NSA) is a functional, established and highly respected institution within our security system and by similar institutions across the globe, Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski wrote in a Facebook post. At the invitation of NSA director Viktor Dimovski, Minister Spasovski attended Thursday the celebration of the Day of NSA, 'a security institution that has been one of the essential factors in protection and security to all our citizens, institutions and the state as a whole for the third year since its establishment.' “Confident in the fact that the security system is the basis of the legal state, immediately after taking power in 2017, we started a comprehensive process of wide reforms in the security sector, with the aim of establishing objective and reliable standards of work, which will guarantee the safety of citizens and will strengthen trust in institutions. Immediately after this, on November 20, 2018, the Government adopted the proposed model for the reform of the security-intelligence system, which transformed the Directorate for Security and Counterintelligence into a separate agency under the authority of the Government with clearly defined goals and tasks. For this purpose, a new law was prepared and adopted for the National Security Agency, which started working on September 1, 2019," Spasovski wrote. The reform of the security-intelligence services was a real necessity, defined in accordance with the recommendations of the Priebe Report, which, Spasovski underlines, ultimately resulted in the establishment of this agency according to all NATO and EU standards, a modern, efficient and above all democratic institution. “Today, three years since its creation, the NSA is a functional, established and highly respected institution within our security system and by similar world institutions. We are pleased to state that we, as the Ministry of the Interior, have excellent cooperation with the Agency and through constant coordination we have so far implemented a series of successful actions. The excellent cooperation with the National Security Agency will continue in the future, and with that we will contribute to the security of the state and all our citizens.
