Tirana, 14 September 2023 (MIA) - Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski met Thursday with Spanish counterpart Fernando Grande-Marlaska Gómez at the sidelines of the Berlin Process conference of ministers of interior in Tirana, reaffirming the excellent bilateral relations and discussing the upcoming EU-Western Balkans ministerial forum on justice and home affairs next month in Skopje.

"North Macedonia is ready to host the October 26-27 forum in Skopje, in line with the programme and priorities of the Spain's EU Presidency," said Minister Spasovski.

He added that the high-level event would reaffirm the common commitment to the European perspective of the Western Balkans, noting that the forum represents an excellent opportunity to create long-term partnerships, strengthen regional cooperation for efficient management of challenges and achievement of European standards up to full-fledged EU membership.

Spasovski also presented the initiative for the signing of a bilateral police cooperation agreement with Spain, which Grande-Marlaska Gómez endorsed, the Ministry of Interior said in a press release.
