New Delhi, 10 September 2023 (dpa/MIA) - South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol announced an additional $2.3 billion in aid to Ukraine during a meeting of the G20 in New Delhi, the South Korean news agency Yonhap reported.

The first $300 million will be provided in 2024 in the form of humanitarian aid and the remaining $2 billion will start in 2025 in the form of long-term, low-interest loans through the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF).

South Korea participates in the financial sanctions against Russia and provides humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Despite Kiev's requests, however, the East Asian country is not sending any weapons there.

As recently as May, Yoon promised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan, to deliver goods Ukraine needs, including mine-clearing equipment and ambulances for the military.
