Social Security Council adopts 8.4 percent pension increase
- The Council of Social Security adopted a decision to raise pensions at a meeting Thursday. The average pension of Mden 17.666 will be increased to Mden 19.150. The March increase, which is based on the methodology, will be an increase of 8.4 percent, which is more than what was expected, said Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski at a press conference on Thursday.
Skopje, 16 March 2023 (MIA) – The Council of Social Security adopted a decision to raise pensions at a meeting Thursday. The average pension of Mden 17.666 will be increased to Mden 19.150. The March increase, which is based on the methodology, will be an increase of 8.4 percent, which is more than what was expected, said Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski at a press conference on Thursday.
Kovachevski said that in 2023, apart from the March adjustment of pensions, there will be one more in September, adjusted on the basis of the living expenses and the rise of the average wage. In a single calendar year, said the PM, the pensions will rise by around 16 percent.
“This adjustment, the upcoming one in September and the pension increases that happened in March and September 2022 will together lead to a 25 percent increase in pensions which has never happened before in the history of the country,” stressed Kovachevski. ad/sk/
