Skopje, 16 December 2023 (MIA) - Snowfall resulted in multiple traffic disruptions on Saturday. A ban on heavy vehicles is in place on several roads across the country, and the Crisis Management Center (CMC) issued an emergency warning for everyone located in Berovo to avoid or delay motor travel due to heavy snowfall. 

According to the Auto-Moto Association of Macedonia (AMSM) and "Makedonija Pat" public enterprise, a ban on the movement of all types of motor vehicles is in place along the Berovo-Berovo Lake route due to heavy snowfall. 

CMC made an urgent appeal to everyone currently located near Berovo Lake to avoid or delay motor travel, noting that if people are in need of food and medicine, they should dial the 112 emergency number and deliveries will be organized by the Municipality of Berovo. 

Regional crisis management centers in Berovo and Shtip said the Berovo-Strumica route is shut down for traffic due to snowfall and trees fallen down along the road. 

Ban on heavy vehicles is also in force along the routes Mavrovo-Mavrovi Anovi and Dvorishte-Strumica-Berovo. A ban on buses and heavy vehicles is in place along the Tetovo-Popova Shapka route, i.e. on the section from the village of Lisec towards Popova Shapka. Winter equipment in other vehicles is mandatory. 

Motorists are advised to drive carefully, adjust their speed to weather conditions and follow traffic rules, signs and signals.
