Skopje, 18 November 2024 (MIA) - Macedonian Railways Transport said road and rail traffic have been restored on Monday following a disruption caused by the derailment of a freight train on Sunday evening.

The company said the derailment caused insignificant damage and the locomotive resumed service following a technical inspection. Passengers traveling from Veles to Skopje and vice versa were transported by bus.

It said the incident occurred on Sunday at 9:35 p.m., with rail service disrupted until 10:50 a.m. on Monday, when regular passenger and freight rail traffic was restored.

Earlier on Monday, Skopje’s regional Crisis Management Center (CMC)  reported a disruption in rail traffic between the “Kadina Reka” and “Zelenikovo” train stations following the derailment.
