Skopje to host Ministerial Meeting on the Western Balkans Agenda for Innovation, Research, Education, Culture, Youth, and Sport

Skopje, 29 September 2024 (MIA) - Ministerial Meeting on the EU Agenda for the Western Balkans focusing on Innovation, Research, Education, Culture, Youth And Sport is taking place in Skopje from September 29 to October 1.

According to the EU Delegation in Skopje, the Agenda sets the region on the right path for deeper cooperation with the EU, and the Ministerial Meeting will focus on joint efforts for its implementation.

“The ministers attending the meeting, along with all other participants, will discuss the significant role of the European Research Area and the European Innovation Agenda, in which all Western Balkan partners are fully integrated,” reads the press release.

The meeting will be focused on working discussions, with only a few sessions open to the media.

The meeting will be opened by Iliana Ivanova, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education, and Youth. Ministers from North Macedonia and the region are expected to attend and address the event, along with representatives from relevant European Commission directorates, international organizations, and the business community.

The event will kick off this evening with one of the sessions and will continue tomorrow when the official opening of the Ministerial Meeting will take place, featuring the participation of the Ministers of Education and Science and Culture, Vesna Janevska and Zoran Ljutkov, along with Balázs Hankó, the Minister of Culture and Innovation from the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
