Skopje proposed to host next EU-Western Balkans Ministerial Forum on Justice and Home Affairs
Skopje, 28 March 2023 (MIA) - Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski alongside State Secretary Magdalena Nestorovska held a working meeting on Tuesday with Spanish Ambassador to North Macedonia Jose Luis Lozano Garcia and EU Ambassador David Geer.
The Ambassadors welcomed the country's sincere efforts in the process of EU negotiations and the success of the bilateral meeting with the European Commission, the Ministry of Interior said in a press release.
Ambassador Garcia, whose country will take over the EU Presidency in June 2023, proposed that the next EU-Western Balkans Ministerial Forum on Justice and Home Affairs - planned for October 2023, be held in Skopje, i.e. have the Republic of North Macedonia as a host.
Thanking ambassadors Garcia and Geer for the successful cooperation and partnership so far on the country's path to full-fledged EU membership, Minister Spasovski pointed out that it would be a great honor to host such important event, which will be an additional strong message to EU members about North Macedonia's European aspirations, particularly in terms of justice and home affairs.
