Skopje and Tirana to keep supporting each other during EU accession negotiations
Brussels, 11 November 2022 (MIA) - Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs and Chief EU Negotiator, Bojan Marichikj, met Friday with Albania's Chief EU Negotiator Majlinda Duka as part of his visit to Brussels. Marichikj and Duka discussed ways for sharing of experiences regarding the screening process and the first bilateral meetings, kicked off by Albania this week, Marichikj's office said. "It's important to share knowledge and experiences while passing the route along the European path. We resume the bilateral screening separately, but we walk together decidedly towards the goal: North Macedonia and Albania as full-fledged EU members," the Deputy PM said. The chief negotiators concluded that their governments have been mainly focusing on the accession negotiations and successful completion of the screening process, implementation of the reform agenda and solid preparation of the negotiating working groups, which present the alignment and preparedness before the European Commission for each chapter separately. Marichikj and Duka also called for internal social unity and cooperation because the benefits and obligations from the membership affect all segments of the society. On Friday, the bilateral screening meeting for Chapter 5, Public Procurement, ended in Brussels after the existing capacities for effective implementation of the regulations in these areas and plans for further alignment with the EU legislation were presented, said the press release.
