Skopje and Izmir sign twin cities protocol

Skopje, 23 March 2023 (MIA) – The mayors of Skopje and Izmir, Danela Arsovska and Mustafa Tunç Soyer respectively, signed a twinning protocol on Thursday.

“Together with the Mayor of Izmir, with whom today we signed a twinning protocol, we expressed our readiness to strengthen our mutual friendly relations and cooperation on specific projects of mutual interest in the fields of tourism, economy, culture, education and environment. With this protocol, the City of Skopje and the City of Izmir are establishing concrete cooperation through the implementation of projects of mutual interest and determining the appropriate dynamics for their implementation,” said the City of Skopje in a press release.

Upon the invitation of the Mayor of Izmir, Thursday’s meeting was attended by MPs, councilors, mayors of 30 municipalities that are a part of Izmir, as well as numerous foundations, organizations from the business community and associations of Macedonian immigrants in Izmir.

“This protocol is of exceptional importance for the City of Skopje in the context of establishing an international relationship with a city, with which our common interests and goals will be turned into projects in all areas of interest,” said the City of Skopje.
