Skopje, 29 August 2023 (MIA) — Independent Member of Parliament and former Alternativa member Skender Rexhepi announced Tuesday he was forming a new political party as a response to Alternativa members' denying him a chance to make changes within the party.

"Because I do not see myself in any political subject; because I believed that in Alternativa I should be doing some work; because my exit confirmed that changes will have to be made but I saw it was not possible," Rexhepi said in a TV21 appearance, "I decided to start a new political journey with the structures available."

"I will reach out to people who have left Alernativa to cooperate with them so we can begin a new political journey together," he said.

According to Rexhepi, although there seem to be numerous Albanian political parties in North Macedonia, the next elections may be the first time that voters can pick between two Albanian blocs.

"Unfortunately, in our society they [Albanian parties] may seem like a lot, and it is realistically so, but fortunately this is how political reconciliation is reached.

"In the next elections, fortunately, there will be two blocs and for the first time in the history of pluralism, Albanians could end up going to the polls with two platforms," Rexhepi said. ssh/mr
