Skopje, 19 December 2023 (MIA) – Through the reallocation of funds from the budgets of six ministries and one agency, EUR 32.5 million have been secured for a total of 66 projects in 44 municipalities in the country, said Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski on Tuesday.
The Prime Minister said the goal of the agreements signed between the ministries, agencies and municipalities over the funds was to demonstrate the importance of the citizens, whose needs and interests, he said, should be the joint goal of the central and local governments.
“A total of Mden 2 billion or EUR 32.5 million have been secured through the reallocation of funds from the budgets of six ministries and one agency – i.e., the ministries of health, education, labor and social policy, transport and communications, culture, and environment and physical planning, as well as the Agency for Youth and Sport. These funds will be used for a total of 66 projects for 44 municipalities in the country. We are talking about projects for the reconstruction of streets and local roads, construction and reconstruction of schools and kindergartens, medical facilities, sports facilities… and other projects. With their realization we are providing better infrastructure, higher quality services, education and health, as well as opportunities for more sports activities and greater protection for the health of the citizens,” said Kovachevski, adding that the support for the municipalities would continue.
Finance Minister Fatmir Besimi said he is satisfied with the process that is set to support the citizens through the development of capital investments. He thanked the MPs and the Committee on Financing and Budget, as well as his colleagues from the Government who, he said, supported the projects developing the municipalities and providing higher quality of life for the citizens.
Besimi stressed that the mayors of the municipalities have prepared efficient projects, which are ready for realization, and noted that all funds will be realized by the end of the year.
