Six Palestinians killed in Israeli West Bank operations

Ramallah/Tel Aviv, 26 November 2023 (dpa/MIA) - Six Palestinians were killed overnight during Israeli military operations in the West Bank, according to Palestinian officials on Sunday.

Five were killed in Jenin, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Ramallah said. Their ages ranged from 17 to 33, the ministry said. They were killed in a drone attack on a house in the refugee neighbourhood of the city in the northern West Bank, the ministry said.

A sixth Palestinian was killed in a village south of Nablus during confrontations with Israeli soldiers who had entered the village for a raid.

The Israeli army announced that soldiers and employees of the Shin Bet domestic intelligence service had been on an "anti-terrorist operation" in the refugee neighbourhood of Jenin.

A Palestinian suspected of being responsible for a deadly attack in August was detained. In the attack in Huwara, an Israeli father and son were shot dead at a petrol station.

The armed suspect was detained in a flat in Jenin. He had been staying there with other wanted persons, according to the army statement. The military published a picture of an assault rifle and two magazines that were found in the flat.

Since the massacres by terrorists from the Islamist Hamas and other groups on October 7, the security situation in the Israeli-occupied West Bank has deteriorated massively.

Since then, 228 Palestinians have been killed in confrontations with Israeli soldiers and attacks by Israeli settlers, according to the Ministry of Health.

Since the beginning of the year, 424 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank in Israeli military operations, confrontations or their own attacks.
