Amsterdam, 19 February 2024 (dpa/MIA) - Australian Open winner Jannik Sinner secured his his second title of the year on Sunday when beat Alex de Minaur 7-5, 6-4 to win the ABN AMRO Open.
It was the 22-year-old Italian's first win in Rotterdam and he showed the same sort of fight which helped him come back from two sets down to beat Daniil Medvedev in the Melbourne final last month.
He lost break leads in both sets on the indoor hardcourt but still prevailed over the Australian for a 15th singles win in a row.
He will rise to number three in the world rankings on Monday, the highest ever spot for an Italian man.
"My team, we did a really good job a few weeks ago and now we made a very good job here," Sinner said. "I am really proud with the level that I played throughout this whole week. We have been in tough situations but we handled it the right way. We will always try to improve, it is the most important."
