Skopje, 24 April 2024 (MIA) – I have no words to express my gratitude. I am overwhelmed, is it possible for so many people to react this way. I don't believe I’m any different from many others. I simply know that I will fulfil what I promise in my own way, I can assure you of that from day one, VMRO-DPMNE’s presidential candidate Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova said.

At late Wednesday’s press conference at the VMRO-DPMNE headquarters, Siljanovska Davkova stated that this result is inspiring for her.

“I am proud of many, firstly, proud of the citizens, not just those who voted for me, but also the others; I am particularly proud of VMRO-DPMNE members for their support. Without them, I wouldn’t have the opportunity to connect with the people, nor would they have known me,” she said.

She added that it is necessary to inspire citizens that it is worth participating in elections.

“This is the end of the first round; the second round is coming. I will conduct myself in the second round towards the one I will compete with, with due respect. Of course, I expect the same attitude. I don't think we should dwell on what happened today; we should inspire the citizens, convince them that it's worth participating in elections, make it clear that I am proud, especially of the citizens, and without citizens, there is no proud Macedonia," she added.

Preliminary results from the State Election Commission's website reveal that, with 80 percent of votes counted from 2,806 out of 3,508 polling stations, VMRO-DPMNE candidate Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova is currently in the lead with 282,075 votes (39.82%) ahead of SDSM’s Stevo Pendarovski with 137,450 votes (19.42%).
